The third Friday of every month the stage at Don Quixote's vibrates with emotion with complex footwork rhythms, intricate hand-clapping, mesmerizing flamenco guitar and the haunting wail of Gypsy song. You are immediately transported to a tablao (flamenco night club) in Sevilla. Local performer, dancer & artistic director of "¡Duende!" Flamenco, La Romera, is an internationally recognized flamenco dancer and 2003 Calabash Award recipient for excellence in the Ethnic Arts. She is considered by the flamenco masters of Spain to be one of the most authentic interpreters of this art form performing in the US. Each month she invites leading guest artists from Spain and the Bay Area to share the stage and create an evening of flamenco magic. Each artist brings to the stage their mastery of the art form and the skill to improvise like a seasoned jazz musician. Flamenco, considered to be the soul music of Spain encompasses a full spectrum of human emotions. Experience moments joy and also be moved to tears when you watch this performance.
